I’m Not Just Learning Digital Marketing. I’m Building With It.
I’m Loo Yu Jun, a 19-year-old Digital Marketing student based in Malaysia, currently pursuing a UK Diploma and SKM Level 3 in Digital Marketing.
I build websites, run digital campaigns, create content, and continuously explore how technology and AI can help businesses grow.
My goal is simple: turn what I learn into real work, real projects, and real results.
01
It Started When I Was 15.
My interest in the digital world started when I was around 15 years old.
At the time, I started buying and selling gaming items online. It wasn’t a huge business, but it was the first time I realized that something happening entirely online could generate real income.
That small experience changed the way I looked at the internet. It wasn’t only a place for games, entertainment or social media anymore. I started seeing it as a place where opportunities could be created.
Later, I had opportunities to help relatives manage online accounts and work on websites. Those experiences gradually made me more curious about how businesses operate online — how they attract attention, communicate with customers and eventually turn that attention into results.
That curiosity eventually led me to Digital Marketing.
02
Why I Chose Digital Marketing
I chose Digital Marketing because I believe it gives me more than one path.
A business doesn’t grow from advertising alone. It needs a strong website, good content, clear communication, the right audience and a strategy that connects everything together.
That’s what interests me about this field.
Instead of limiting myself to one skill, I want to understand how different parts of digital growth work together — from websites and Meta Ads to content creation, design and AI-assisted workflows.
My goal isn’t simply to become someone who knows how to use marketing tools. I want to understand why something works, how it contributes to a business, and how different digital channels can support one another.

The Website That Wasn’t Good Enough.
In October 2025, during Semester 3 at SUMA, I attended RyanKey’s class and started learning WordPress and Elementor.
I built my first website, completed the assignment, and thought I had done enough.
After receiving feedback from my lecturer, I realized there were many things I hadn’t considered — layout, consistency, visual hierarchy, user experience and the overall quality of the website.
Instead of treating that criticism as the end of the project, I carried it into the next one. I started paying more attention to spacing, typography, and how professional websites structure information.
That’s when I realized web design actually suited my personality. I enjoy improving small details, solving visual problems and watching an idea slowly become a complete website.

45 Days That Changed How I Think About Websites.
After several smaller projects, I wanted to challenge myself to build something more complete.
That became Starduck2U.
I spent approximately one and a half months developing the project — not only designing pages, but thinking about the brand behind them.
I created a fictional coffee brand built around four ideas:
Comfort · Heritage · Community · Quality
Instead of treating every page as an individual design, I wanted the entire website to feel like one connected world. The colors, copywriting, navigation, product presentation and brand language all needed to tell the same story.
Concepts such as the “Flock,” “Pond,” and “Golden Duck Standard” helped create a recognizable personality throughout the website.

I’m Still Learning — And That’s the Point.
Today, the areas I’m most confident working with include WordPress, Elementor, Meta Ads, Canva, CapCut and AI tools.
But I don’t consider knowing a tool the same as mastering a profession.
Tools change quickly. Platforms change. AI changes even faster.
That’s why I’m trying to develop something more important than simply knowing which button to click: the ability to understand a problem, learn what I need, and find a way to solve it.
AI has become part of that process. I use tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and DeepSeek for research, ideation, problem-solving and improving my workflow.
I see AI as a co-pilot rather than a replacement for thinking.
It helps me move faster — but the strategy, judgment and final decisions still matter.
06
Where I Want to Go Next.
I expect to graduate in December 2026.
During the first one to two years after graduation, I want to gain deeper real-world experience by working closely with businesses — particularly helping two or three brands manage their social media and digital presence while continuing to take on website development projects.
I want to experience what happens after a website launches, after an advertisement goes live and after content is published.
I want to understand what actually moves a business forward.
In the long term, my goal is to become someone capable of independently taking responsibility for a brand’s Digital Growth — connecting its website, marketing, content, advertising and digital experience into one direction.
I’m only at the beginning of that journey.
Let’s Build Something Great Together
Have a project in mind? I’m always open to new opportunities and exciting collaborations.
